Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our Internet Radio Station:
- How do I listen to your radio station?
We are an Internet Radio Station, not a regular Terrestrial Radio Station, so you won’t find us on any dial, but right here on our website. Our flash based player should start playing as soon as you come to our website, but in case it doesn’t, we have several options for you:

Listen using Windows Media Player
Listen using Real Player
Listen using Quicktime
Listen using Flash
You can also listen to us through iTunes by finding us under the Radio Shows option, then Talk/News Stations and then scroll down to Talking Alternative and double click on our name.
- What do I do if I want to listen to a podcast?
To listen to one of the shows that has already aired, go to the show page of that particular host, turn off the “live” stream, and use the on-demand player to select the show you want to listen to. If you still have a question about listening to a podcast, feel free to email us about your problem. Below are a couple of images to explain further: - What do I do if it suddenly stops playing?
This normally only happens when we switch over from a live show to pre-recorded stream that runs 24/7. If this should happen to you, simply “refresh” or “reload” our website and it should start playing automatically. You can also try to just stop and start the player you are using. Sometimes it has to do with your internet connection, so if the problem persists, trying restarting your computer and coming back to our website. If it still does not work, feel free to email us about your problem. - How do I get on your mailing list?
We send out newsletters the day before our live shows to inform of the upcoming show topics and local events in NYC. To join our mailing list, simply go to this page and fill in your information. You may unsubscribe or leave our mailing list at any time and we do not share, rent or sell our mailing list to anyone! Your information is safe with us. - Do you have a Facebook Fan Page?
Yes we do! You can find us on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=93076149898 – you can share your thoughts about a particular show or ask questions of our hosts right online! - How do I call in to ask a question of one of your hosts/guests?
Our call in number is (877) 480-4120 and is active during our live shows. If a show happens to be pre-recorded, you will not be able to speak to the guest or host, but we will be happy to put you in touch with them. - What is your station all about?
We are a broadcast-quality Internet Radio Station whose mission is to Empower, Uplift and Educate our audience. Our shows are by Professionals for Professionals, and touch upon all areas of life. Each of our hosts is an expert in their field upon which their show is based. Topics range from Astrology, Health & Wellness, Politics & Society, Music, Spiritual Development, Business, Nutrition, Nonprofits, and many other topics that are relevant to our worldwide audience. - How can I become a guest on one of the shows on Talking Alternative?
You can submit your request through our Contact Form, please include which show you specifically think you would make a good guest for and why. Also include all of your contact information, website, blog or other resources that we may be able to understand why you would be a good guest for us. - How can I become a host and have my own show on Talking Alternative?
We are constantly expanding our programs and content, and are always on the look out for articulate, professional people with personality! We broadcast live from our studio on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, so we look for hosts who are local and can commit to doing a weekly show.
